The Workers of England Union recently held its Annual General Meeting on the 19th October 2025 in Nottingham, bringing together a strong and enthusiastic turnout from across the organisation.
The meeting reflected the WEU’s continued growth and commitment to supporting members through improved communication, training, and representation.
A key focus of the AGM was the launch and development of the Trade Union’s new website. Members discussed how the platform will make it easier for both existing and prospective members to access information, training materials, and guidance.
The new site is intended to enhance transparency, improve accessibility, and serve as a central hub for Trade Union news and campaigns.
Another major topic of discussion was enhanced training for WEU representatives. Delegates agreed on the importance of ensuring that Reps are fully equipped to deal with a wide range of workplace issues, including discrimination, employment rights, and organisational change.
There was a strong emphasis on developing a clear and consistent understanding of philosophical beliefs, an increasingly relevant area in workplace equality cases. WEU campaigns were discussed and approaches were explored in how to develop these during 2026.
Recruitment strategies were also explored, with attendees sharing practical ideas to increase membership and strengthen local engagement. The conversation highlighted the importance of visibility in workplaces, better communication with non-members, and continued focus on the Workers of England’s independent voice for working people.
Overall, the AGM was marked by a positive and forward-looking atmosphere. Delegates left motivated and confident in the WEU’s direction, with a shared sense of purpose and unity.
The discussions demonstrated a collective determination to build on recent progress and ensure that the Workers of England Union continues to grow in strength and influence in the year ahead.
