Campaign Focus: Protecting NHS, emergency services, and essential workers from abuse and assault.

Violence and abuse against frontline staff, especially in transport, healthcare, and retail are on the rise, with workers facing verbal threats, physical assaults, and even spitting simply for doing their jobs.

Understaffing, long wait times, and rising public frustration are fuelling tensions, but none of this justifies abuse. No one should go to work fearing for their safety. The WEU is campaigning for stronger protections, tougher penalties for offenders, and proper staffing levels and training to prevent conflict before it escalates. Everyone has the right to a safe and respectful workplace.
