Campaign Focus: Ensuring a real living wage, with tips going to workers not employers.
Ensuring a decent standard of living means more than just meeting the bare minimum, it’s about giving workers the means to live with dignity, security, and opportunity. That’s why any conversation about tackling low pay or economic insecurity must include not just higher wages, but also proper investment by giving in-work benefits and direct support.
Tips and service charges should go straight to workers, not siphoned off by employers or used to top up base pay. Likewise, benefits like Universal Credit need reform so that they genuinely supplement income, not punish people for working. It’s about creating a system where fair pay, decent benefits, and worker protections all pull in the same direction: toward a life worth living.
